Joypads/Joysticks not recognized
I searched the forum for additional detail(s) on this issue, but I was unable to find (or perhaps I am searching under the wrong item). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When using retrobat my joypads are recongnized fine (and I am able to configure) inside the main menu area (where the system and games are listed). when I go into any system and select any game, the joystick/pad is non-functional. Assumed this was a retroarch issue, but I cant seem to see anything wrong there. This was functional before, but now I cant seem to get any joystick to work at all within any of the games through retrobat.

Im using a iNNext usb joystick (SNES compatible) — also using a generic Nintendo Switch controller. Both work fine on PC and on retrobat menus. I also checked both @ https://gamepad-tester.com/ – and I am able to read a result. So I know both are functional. Also, both worked fine for awhile on all systems and games within retrobat, but now stopped working

i think your pads are not compatible with SDL2 library, launch Retroarch and go to controllers options and see if your pads recognized.

Im able to map the controller successfully through Retroarch – when inside the RetroBat menu it works fine/ when I drill down into any system and game the joypadis unresponsive. I also have another joystick that is a switch knockoff. Im able to successfully map it within Retroarch.. the same thing, that joystick works within the RetroBat menu, as well — but when I drill down into any system or game, it does not work

that’s not what i asked you.
I ask you which driver for the controls is detected by Retroarch?
Launch Retroarch from the emulator configuration menu from Retrobat. (Retrobat logo)

OK, this is not this menu, go to:
Settings -> User Interface -> Menu Items Visibility -> Settings
and activate “Show drivers”
go back to the start of retroarch, and into “Settings”, the option “Drivers” appears.

This is not normal, by default it must be on SDL2.
Select SDL2, go to the “input” menu > “Port 1 Control”
And put screenshot of this menu.

In sdl2, the Pad would not configure for port 1-3, but was able to map on port 4 (attached) – but within any game, still the joypad is not recognized

OK, very strange, disable auto pad config in developpers menu and configure your pad directly on Retroarch, choose D-Ipunt (or Xinput if avaiable).
If it don’t work on D-Ipunt or X-input, i don’t have solution.

it is not a special menu, it is not hidden.
This menu is not on Retroarch
look on Emulationstation.

ok will do — interesingly, when I tested a switch-compatiable joystick just now directly through the PS2 emulator (and not retrobat) the joystick worked — when I then go back into retrobat the joystick worked in the main menu area (but not within any of the games/ systems)

Within the emulation station menu I dont see developers menu access – if I click on the .exe for emulation station it just launches the main game menu screen

Why run Emulationstation from this exe?
Start Retrobat as usual with Retrobat.exe

Hi, I know this is an old post but I had the same exact issue as you and stumbled upon what seems to have fixed this issue. Were you by chance running yours on Windows10/11? I took a random guess and turned off ‘Game Mode’ in windows. Now the controllers worked in the emulators from Retrobat. FYI I am using the 8bitdo Ultimate 2.4Ghz controllers.
